London's Marx Memorial Library seeking support for flood damage

The Marx Memorial Library in London is seeking donations to restore the library after damage which occurred on September 24th due to flooding in the library. Donations will be used to restore the roof and drainage system to prevent future flooding, enhance the storage and protection of archives, and fund the redevelopment of the library's facilities to expand capacity and improve access to the collection.

The Library was founded in 1933, the 50th aniversary of Karl Marx's death, at a meeting of the British Labour Party, Communist Party, Labour Research Department, and Martin Lawrence Publishers Ltd. as the most appropriate memorial to the life and works of Marx; especially as fascism seemed on the rise across Europe.

Since its founding, the library has sought to further its mission:
The sole and exclusive object of the Library shall be the advancement of education, learning and knowledge by the provision, acquisition and maintenance of a library of books, periodicals, manuscripts, artefacts, electronic material and other media relating to all aspects of the science of Marxism and the history of Socialism and the trade union and working-class movements.
This is accomplished through their collections and archives as well as ongoing courses, trade union education, hosting school groups, and other activities.
