Four unions representing employees of the city of Chicago, as well as twelve current and former employees, have
filed a lawsuit against the city in response to proposed changes to employee pension plans. The proposed changes include increased pension contributions, increased wait time for cost-of-living increases, and the elimination of compounded cost-of-living increases. According to Chicago's mayor, the changes to the pension plan are necessary to prevent the pension fund from running out of money.
