Little Rock, AR teachers will strike for one day on Thursday following a decision by the state Board of Education not to recognize the union. Tri-City News reports.
The strike will only be the second time that teachers have walked out of Little Rock classrooms, but with growing frustration over the lack of recognition and state control over the local education system the Little Rock Educators Association felt compelled to act.
Billed as a one day strike, LREA is focusing their effort on the issue of local control and leaving open the possibility of extending the strike should control of the district not be turned over to the city after a zoning vote on Thursday.
