Last Thursday, workers in the University of California system represented by AFSCME Local 3299 struck for one day in what is now the fifth labor stoppage in a 12 month period according to the San Francisco Examiner , this time over unfair labor practices and the outsourcing of jobs.
The 7,440 workers represented by AFSCME were also joined by members of the University Professional and Technical Employees (UPTE) which represents healthcare and research support professionals and technical units.
