In Spain CGT demands more staff for RAfalafena Library, In Brazil Librarians join general strike

Spain: Protest due to lack of staff of the Rafalafena Library

In June, the CGT (General Confederation of Labor) union called to protest to demand more staff for the Rafalafena Public Library in Castelló and prevent it from closing in the afternoon.

The Union denounced that the library only has 50% of the staff approved for its proper functioning. 


España: Reclamo por falta de personal de la Biblioteca Rafalafena

En junio, el sindicato CGT (Confederación General del Trabajo), convocó a una concentración para exigir más personal para la Biblioteca Pública Rafalafena en Castelló e impedir que se cierre por las tardes.

El Sindicato denunció que la biblioteca sólo cuenta con el 50% de la dotación de personal aprobada para su correcto funcionamiento.

Brazil: On June 14, Librarians joined the general strike against pension reform


In Rio de Janeiro, the Librarians' Union (Sindib-RJ) made a call though social networks to participate in the act. According to Luciana Manta, president of the organization, the strike is motivated by the Pension Reform which, according to her,  withdraw workers' rights.

In São Paulo, the local union (SinBiesp) also called to the librarians participate in the activities.

Teachers, metalworkers, university students and other unions also protested.
