Pagina12: Protest against layoffs in the Argentine National Library

On July 19, a march was held against the dismissals at the Mariano Moreno National Library of the Argentine Republic.

The protest, called by the Association of State Workers (ATE), was held to demand that the Director of the Library, Elsa Barber, reinstate the fired employees.

The dozen workers laid off since January 2019, join the long list of almost 300 employee dismissed since the change of government, and library management, in 2016.

Among those fired is an employee who was in intensive care at the time of being notified due to an accident at work, the employee later died.

In addition, the union denounced problems in the  library building that put at risk important parts of the cultural heritage of Argentina.
