Safe working conditions and job security are being demanded by Amazon warehouse workers planning to strike for 6-hours on Amazon's Prime Day (July 15th) in Shakopee, MN the Verge reports.
The walkout will take place across two shifts and engineers from Amazon Employees for Climate Justice plan to join the demonstration.
Amazon has seen growing labor unrest outside of the United States in recent years, but work stoppages within the US have been far less frequent. The exception has been t Shakopee warehouse where a group of Somali-American workers led strikes in December and March, winning reduced quotas during Ramadan and space for prayer during the day.
Now the workers are demanding part-time positions be converted to full time and that quotas be permanently reduced to create a safer working environment.
