AFSCME has announced that members at Florida A&M University claimed a long sought victory at the bargaining table after members voted unanimously on Tuesday to accept the new contract.
The contract, the result of seven months of negotiation, provides members with a one time bonus and an extra paid day off per year. It will be applied to cover the 500 employees for the preceding 2018-19 school year. When negotiations resume this fall the union hopes to push for a substantial base salary increase.
The struggle has produced further results as Tuesday also saw 15 support personnel join AFSCME.
