Tribune: Chicago Teachers Union calls for school representatives as strike reaches 9th day

The Chicago Tribune reports that Chicago Teachers Union (CTU) Local 1 leadership called for representatives from each school to meet Wednesday, though it is unclear if they will ask for a vote on a new contract.

Negotiators met with Chicago Mayor Lightfoot again Tuesday as the teachers strike entered its 9th day, making it the longest CTU strike since 1987.

Support staff reached an agreement with the school district over the weekend in their contract dispute, but the 7,500 workers represented by the Service Employees International Union will remain on strike until the contract with CTU is also settled.
