The Sand Diego Unoin-Tribune reported last week that the city of San Diego is rescinding furloughs for 800 city workers, many of whom worked at public libraries and recreation centers before the facilities were forced to close due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The move followed a grievance filed on behalf of the workers by the Municipal Employees Association. Workers will recieve their full pay and will be found alternate city jobs.
Unfortunately, part-time workers have seen their hours reduced and wages cut and were not part of the grievance since weaker labor laws don't protect them.
