Higher Ed Labor United

Right now in California and New York, 50,000 higher education workers are on strike. Across the US higher ed workers are forming unionspetitioning for NLRB elections, passing strike authorizations with huge margins, and more. In the UK, 70,000 higher ed workers are on strike. This is a movement.

The headline of today's spotlight story in TIME reads "How the University of California Strike Could Reshape Higher Education."

In the article, HELU Vice Chair and UAW Local 2865 President Rafael Jaime is quoted as saying, "We want dignified working conditions, dignified living wages, so that academia can be more equitable and accessible to workers from all walks of life. This is really a fight for the future of public education."

Higher Ed Labor United.
