Rutherford Library Board Restructures (NJ)

At a special meeting on Dec. 5, the Rutherford Library Board unanimously voted to implement a three-part restructuring plan for 2012 that would move the children's section upstairs to the main part of the library and eliminate three full-time employees. The plan would also place a freeze on hiring and promotion, allow a library intern position to expire at the end of 2011, reduce the hours for a clerk and increase the reference librarian's position from part-time to full-time. The board also moved to place a freeze on hiring and promotion and to invite the union to meet sometime in the next 20 days to discuss the plan.
