Chicago librarians host "People's Library"
AFSCME librarians will host "People's Libraries" at several locations in the Chicago public library system in protest over Mayor Rahm Emanuel's unilateral move to close locations on Mondays. Meanwhile, Emanuel appears to be backing down from his aggressive moves against the union by hiring back 65 laid-off library workers and stating that the library system will remain open six days a week. It remains to be seen what will happen to the 100+ workers who are still laid off.
