There is a slight update in the Simi Valley Library situation that I posted about last week. I haven't come across an update about the lawsuite filed by SEIU against Simi Valley administration, but American Libraries is reporting that the lawsuit was specifically launched to prevent the city from issuing a request for proposals to outsource library services. I had speculated that that was likely the case and now it appears to be confirmed.
This lawsuit has the potential to greatly affect future attempts to privatize libraries in California and elsewhere. Stay tuned.
