Privatization of California Public Library
Simi Valley City Council has voted to privatize Simi Valley Public Library, making it the third library to become privatized after leaving Ventura County Library System. Current library employees will have to apply for positions at the library after Library Systems and Services LLC takes over in June. The union representing the library employees sued the city in 2012 over the decision to leave Ventura County Library System and has stated that they are "definitely disappointed" with the decision to privatize.
