CUPE 4951 welcomes municipal and library workers from the District of Fort St. James.

FORT ST. JAMES, BC, Sept. 27, 2018 /CNW/ - CUPE welcomes Fort St. James municipal workers after a positive vote. Workers for the District, a small community located forty kilometers north of Vanderhoof and just two hours from Prince George, will now be represented by CUPE 4951.

"On behalf of CUPE 4951, I am very pleased to welcome these new members to our local," said Lily Bachand, CUPE 4951 President. "We are excited to combine our voices with the workers of Fort St. James, and look forward to working with the employer on a first agreement."

The newest members of CUPE 4951 include library, economic development office, arena, public works, and other municipal service workers. Fort St. James Mayor and Council have been supportive of the workers' decision to seek union representation and welcome the opportunity to negotiate collectively with their employees.
