Green Left Weekly: Victorian AEU votes to support climate strike

The Green Left Weekly has reported that the Victorian branch of the Austrailian Educators Union has voted to support the student led global climate strike on September 20th.

The unanimously passed motion called on leadership to advocate for students rights to participate in the strike safely and without infringement of the rights.

The motion further called on members to show solidarity by requesting a leave of absence to attend demonstrations, posting a selfie to social media, or passing a solidarity resolution in the local sub-branch of the AEU.

Educators are also instructed to make it as easy as possible for students to participate, by, for example, not scheduling tests for the 20th or allowing students who miss a scheduled test to resit for it.
