Congressional Research Service Union on Employee Concerns.

The director of the Congressional Research Service (CRS) will resign June 30, after claims of mismanagement at Capitol Hill’s in-house think tank, which Congress relies on for information on legislation and procedure.

The International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers which represents the Congressional Research Service sent a letter:

the union representing CRS employees, sent a letter outlining member concerns. In that letter, the union highlighted accelerated attrition, noting that there were 44 nonretirement voluntary separations in Fiscal Year (FY) 2022, double the rate between FY 2009 and FY 2021.

The letter points out that flexibility is a chief complaint by CRS employees. In a union survey of employees who recently left, more than 78 percent said telework policy was a very or somewhat important factor in their decision to exit, with more than 43 percent saying they would have stayed if CRS had more flexibility.
