Union vs. Wal-Mart in B.C.

Union Squares Off Against Wal-Mart
The union that tried and failed to unionize employees at the Kamloops Wal-Mart store is preparing to battle the retailer on the provincial front.

Wal-Mart is gearing up to stop a union drive in the automotive department of its Surrey store on 88 Avenue.

The worldwide retailer is going to the B.C. Labour Relations Board in a bid to have the United Food and Commercial Workers Union (UFCW) certification dismissed, said company spokesperson Andrew Pelletier.

The move is spurred by a recent board ruling in favour of Wal-Mart in the ongoing struggle between the company and the union.
