Solidarity strike in South Africa
Library workers at the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa have been acting in solidarity with the Academic Staff Association at that university in their struggle against management. The library workers are part of the Administration, Library and Technical
Staff Association and participated in a one-day strike with the National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union and Academic Staff Association on August 2. A second one-day strike is planned for August 28. The three unions have wisely banded together and none will sign an agreement with management unless they all accept.
