Possible strike at the University of Victoria
Library workers at the University of Victoria in British Columbia are among 1,300 support staff who might go on strike this fall, having been without a collective agreement since March of 2010. The workers are part of CUPE Locals 951 and 917 and are coordinating possible job action with the start of the new school year in September. In addition to being without a collective agreement, the unions are concerned about possible privatization and lay-offs in the face of budget cuts.
