Unions in Public and Academic Libraries. (in) Encyclopedia of library and information sciences

Several requests for this 2010 article from the Encyclopedia of library and information sciences.

Unions in Public and Academic Libraries.

The role of unions and collective bargaining in U.S public and academic libraries is stated with a summary of historical development. After noting the lack of national association attention to unionization, the evolution of the American Library Association-Allied Professional Association (ALA-APA) is described. The connection between human rights and unions is discussed.
