CNET: Amazon, Microsoft workers plan to join Global Climate Strike

According to a report from c|net almost a thousand workers, mostly at Amazon's Seattle headquarters, will be walking off the job Sept. 20th to join the Global Climate Strike.

Many of the employees, members of Amazon Employees for Climate Justice, will be using paid time off to join the global demonstrations.

Members of Microsoft Workers 4 Good have also said they plan to join demonstrations according to their Twitter feed.

The decision by both groups to publicly participate in the demonstrations, calling on their respective companies to take steps to combat climate change from divesting and refusing to work with companies involved in fossil fuel extraction and burning to committing to net zero emissions by 2030, represent a growing activism within the tech community that has historically been hesitant to publicly challenge the giant corporations that dominate the field.
